Had a word with R.S-S.

As far as I know there is no way someone can upload a film to the forum. Not sure what the size would be if someone could! A nice idea but I reckon not possible.

One suggestion would be to create a password protected link to something like 'Vimeo' perhaps ?  Vimeo makes it easy to upload any kind of video you create. They accept different file formats. Basic (free) accounts allow for 500 MB of storage every week, and they provide easy tools to customize videos to fit seamlessly into any website or blog.
Not sure how it would work (if at all) ..........would need a lot of looking into.

I can see that there may be a way of uploading a video that you create, or a link to it, but not a video that someone else creates.

I mean all we can do is create a link to it, not upload it like a photograph. Hope you see what I mean.

Thanks Norm......I get what you're saying.

Cheers Gail

I also see there is plenty of messages regarding copyright. That dreaded word that usually creates a multitude of posts.

I see nothing wrong in putting links to these films from here, that is what the web is all about. Also loading them (if we could) to this server is a waste of space since we can easy see them from someone elses server. I realise R.S-S would like them here just in case they ever get removed but that is something we have to live with.

This postcard is for sale on ebay at the moment.

If you look at the photo you will see an odd shaped construction to the right. It was removed some years ago but it was bought from the Powder Mills when it closed in 1920 due to lack of orders and the proposed flooding of the Goyt Valley.

Here is a link to the first film about Fernilee metioned by RSS earlier this year http://www.movinghistory...es/nw/films/nw6goyt.html

The second film is proving more elusive - it appears to be held by the National Film Archive at Mickey Mouse University but is not available for viewing on line.

The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.

Good afternoon Mr Scope,

I have a copy of the full film on a disc; if you would like to borrow it just let me know.

You know where I am.

Hi

I know this is an older thread. I'm trying to find or contact Jaynie, who posted earlier in the thread, we're 2nd cousins and both related to George Raven who died in the explosion.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Hi Simon,
Do you wish me to pass your email address on to Jaynie so that she can contact you if she wishes?
Cheers
Jon.
