Last week I went round the Staircase House next to the indoor market in Stockport. It was very interesting and a well delivered commentary via a hand held speaker. The place dates back to 1460 ish but the most interesting thing I discovered was it is the oldest house remaining in Stockport and was owned by a well to do family who owned property in the next county (Derbyshire) . The family name was Shallcross!
