All are welcome to come to the Village Olympics this coming Saturday (12th July)  on the recreation ground in Buxworth just by the War Memorial Club. As well as the usual assortment of races and activities for all ages, there will be a few surprise events too.

As always there is no charge for entry or to partake in the sporting events, first prize winners will get a coveted Buxworth Olympics Gold Medal, and a certificate, and certificates will go to all second and third placings.

There will be a bouncy castle, bouncy slide, refreshments - including cupcakes and chocolate fountain -, and facepainting.

As soon as the sporting events finish, we are extremely pleased to have the brilliant Chinese Marbles playing on the decking at the Club both before and after the prize-giving. Everyone that saw their rehearsal for the Olympics at the Whaley Water Weekend in June knows what an amazing band they are! As they are based at the Storm Brewery in Macclesfield, the club will be offering a good range of Storm cask ales.

Please come along to support this long-running event, and maybe even get a little fitter (temporarily,  before helping to drink the club dry!!)

As we are fortunate in having the Chinese Marbles playing after the sports, and they are linked to Storm Brewing Company, the club will have a good selection of their cask ales to be enjoyed while they are playing; These include Bosley Cloud, Silk of Amnesia, Desert Storm, Hurricane Hubert and  Downpour. In addition, to add some really local flavour, we have "Rapa Nui" from the Whaley Bridge Brewery as well, a 4.9% light amber ale.
