I have just witnessed a man almost get run over by a HGV in the village. He stepped out infront of it to cross the road when the crossing was less than 5 meters away. Please use the crossing - that's what it's there for!

And it a really pedestrian friendly crossing.   It usually changes as soon as you press the button, ulike some.
The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.
