And if this helps The School was built on a piece of land called Lower Wood aquired on 18th August 1840
Built in1847 - 48 The first Headteacher on record was Mr Peter Allen in 1864
Mr West was appointed in 1941 and retired in 1963
The younger teacher on the Photo would probably not have been Pop West but Mr Arthur Oldfield who was head for 36 years any one in their 70s now will remember him.
The Oldest School in Whaley was Elnor Lane School, Thomas Ouff left money in his will (died 1629) but records for the school start 1721, now wills are on line at Ancestry.co.uk someone could check it out.
