Hi all

I have today paid a flying visit to Whaley and took my father to visit his cousin in Chapel.  The cousin has loaned me 6 photos of old Whaley.  My problem is that there is a photographer's stamp on the back which makes me wonder whether I am allowed to post them (although the stamp does not say they are copyrighted).

I am not sure whether the photographer is the person who took the original photographs (one is of the old bridge (stone built) at the bottom of Bridge Street, another is of the blacksmiths - Thomas Jacksons - at the corner of Brige Street/Market Street, three very old photos of the village taken from Old Road and one of a set of bells outside Taxal Church.  I suspect that the name of the person stamped on the back of the photo was not the original photographer because they are too old.

Any ideas?  They are lovely photos and I would love to post them.  Help !!

Hello Gnatalee,

The photos you describe have been around Whaley for years. I have got copies of all those that you describe. Who do you think you might offend or who do you think might sue you?
The answer is nobody.
You are, in my book, providing a valuable public service to the gentlefolk of Whaley Bridge and you should be applauded.

Don’t worry about it.

When I have been educated in the art of posting photos later this week I intend putting quite a few on and I did not use my box brownie to take even one of them.

Hi Gnatalee,

No worries about that photo; there must be dozens of those in peoples houses around Whaley.

You are, as I said before, providing a great service to this forum and the people who haven’t seen the photos before.

Well done and keep it up.

Good morning Gnatalee.

Most excellent photos. I also don't see any problems posting on the web. Keep them coming.
