On Saturday 9th November we present a ceilidh at Chapel Town Hall, raising funds for Blythe House and featuring crack local band Flash In The Pan (of whom I have the honour of being the concertina player and as near as it gets to a leader).

All most welcome; bring your dancing shoes and prepare for an evening of dancing and entertainments. No experience necessary, and all monies raised will go to Blythe House in memory of Rose's brother Pete Hancox of New Mills.

Tickets are £8 (£4 for under 12s) from Blythe House or us. The event poster is attached; and if you do come along please come and say hello so I can put some faces to some forum aliases!

We raised something in the region of £1,100, so a big thanks to the band, The Powderkegs Border Morris, everyone who performed or helped out, and everyone who came and danced.

We don't know the exact figure yet because Blythe House themselves can't tell us exactly how many tickets they sold, so the final figure may be a bit over £1,100.

We were all too busy to do a head count, but it was in the region of 100 people. It was certainly a good turn out, it wouldn't have fitted in the Mechanics

[edit: a head count, not 'ahead count']

The final total raised was £1,160, and the money was presented to Blythe House Hospice this afternoon. A massive thank you to everyone who donated money, time and talent to achieve that brilliant total.
