Hello

We have just moved to Whaley Bridge from over the hill in Glossop. My husband works at Manchester University. After only a week he is tearing his hair out travelling down the A6 every day to work. Can anyone tell me if there is a less congested way for him to travel other than getting the train.

Your ideas will be gratefully received.

Regards
Louise

Hi Louise, sorry, had to laugh at this.

It's a straight line to Manchester. The A6 is it.

Other option, as you mention is train. Which is infinitely better.

Other than that, the route's the same but try different propellents maybe? Walk? Pushbike? Helicopter? Lear Jet?

In another hundred years or so you may be able to 'beam' yourself into town of course. But possibly, the bypass will arrive before that. Possibly. :-)

I work in Stockport and unless I leave before 7 the traffic is simply horrific. I'm considering using the train ascthecroadworks on the A6 are currently making the journey tortuous even at that early hour but be warned it's expensive!

Head out on Macc Road and turn down Bakestonedale Road to Pott Shrigley. Turn right to Adlington and then towards Wilmslow, it picks up the A34. I don't know about typical commuting times as I don't myself, but the roads out to the A34 are generally quiet most times I've been on them, and I've found the A34 into Manchester better than the A6 when I have taken it.
