Popped out to top up on essentials at our local Tesco's to be greeted with a festively decorated Christmas tree, with a three or four 'gifts' under it.
Besides the obvious commercial necessity for Tesco to remind us that Christmas is seven weeks away, why do they do it so early? Christmas jostles with the fireworks for sale & the lovely poppy sellers. I find it only serves to alienate me from the experience & resentful of the commerciality of Christmas.
I managed to avoid the temptation to buy the Turkey & trimmings & cursed the Manager for caving in to the avaricious demands of his London masters.
Why can't they stick the tree up when the Whaley lights are switched on, it's not as if they haven't got any competition (yet, come on Aldi get slapping those bricks up)?
I can here the Easter eggs rustling in the warehouse itching to get out when the pesky tree has gone.
Double clubcard points if you buy a tree today, couldn't resist.

Try getting a smile in Aldi or a newspaper. Or even anything vaguely unusual. They are good for basics and wine but useless for service and don't do stuff like lemon grass! Tesco for most stuff and Aldi for potatoes and fruit. Don't sweat the small stuff, unfortunately it's the modern age we live in and Christmas has begun in early November for big retailers for at least 20 years

I'm not that naive to believe that retailers will hold back Christmas marketing until December, but come on...... Christmas Tree up on 3rd November!!! That's just Crazy!!!

Totally agree with Jonny, 3rd November!
I am sure I heard of some country that did not allow it until the 8th Dec, I think that's a bit late but I agree with the sentiment.
Two months of Jingly Bells (I heard in Tesco Stockport) is enough to send the staff mad, the festive spirit is reflected in their faces (not really).
Below is a copy of a "festive document" from the mighty store. Marketing is strange, what message are they saying here?
A PS4 is just what your dog wants? (Might keep it out of children's play areas though).
How about a caption competition on the lines of "No more walks for you smelly mutt I have a PS4 now so push off".
Oh well, time to put the sprouts on, only about 41 days of Jingle Bells left. Edited by user 14 November 2014 14:59:24(UTC)
