Hooray! It's about time this matter was finally resolved - it seems to be going on for ever and a day.

Does anyone know if there is a proposed timescale for the final completion of the bridge?
For anyone else that is interested in the project there is more info here:

The biggest problem up to now has been the issue of a piece of ransom, land which has meant that even if they had the money in place they could not build the bridge. Now that the land over and on that which the bridge would be built is sorted out they can move forward to sourcing the finance.
The Masterplan starts to give them the opportunity to approach EMDA and others for that monies.
The project has been a struggle from day one and the ownership of the land is a major breakthrough. I know that they have been talking to various bodies about money whilst they have been trying to finalise the land issue so that when the Masterplan is put forward to people like EMDA it is no suprise to them and although it has not been rubber stamped they know we want the money, and have a rough idea of the build costs, because they have been talking about it for such a long time they have been actively encouraging the process even providing HPBC with the money to put the Masterplan together so it is already being looked on favourably.
The timescale is one that can't really be answered with any degree of certaintly at this stage but I do know that they would hope to be striking ground in early 2011.
Lets all hope that it does come to fruition in the next two to three years. One thing I can tell you is that I have not spoken to anybody at Borough or County level who does not support the building of a second bridge, this suggests that everybody is behind us in our endeavours and will do the best they can even in these difficult times.
