In 1906 The Guardian related the story of Dicky of Tunstead and of course, the connection with Taxal Churchyard :
Some years ago the skull was given a decent burial in the neighbouring churchyard of Taxal, but from it's resting place there, it gave such a terrible time to those still above ground that for the sake of peace it was disinterred and brought back to the home of it's fathers.

Thanks David, this is really interesting. I am trying to locate a page that may have Taxal Church's memorial inscriptions. IS there one? I am looking for William and Mary Ann Middleton who are supposedly buried there.
