Hi

I have inserted this paragraph into this post since the thread it was about has been deleted. The thread was really just one post from Glenda stating he could not upload a picture to the website using some new instructions on the forum or even delete the post. He has also posted the fact the thread should have been called Where?, so I made it that. With that in mind please continue...............

But you can, and have already loaded photos! Not sure why you cannot even delete it. Maybe the powers that be will. I didn't add to it because then it will not be deleted.

G.J. As you have loaded photos before you obviosly know how to do it.

What was the difference this time which caused it not to work? That may prove more useful than the one line you have posted. If you tell us it would prevent other people doing the same.

Where was this photo taken (Norman should know) and can you still buy fruit and veg?

To Norm and Snoopy :-  It worked this time, I didn't wait long enough after I pressed upload, it took about 45 seconds Thanks. G.J.

If I can have a go, I'd say you can't buy fruit and veg from there now, but you might be able to hire them, if its where I think it is You used to be able to get a pint across the road, too.

As usual Buggyite wins. (Although he is behind the times with the hire bit)

Ben Garside's fruit and Veg shop.

Hi

Just got in, so Buggyite was bound to win. :)

That piccy is just over 4 meg, which is on the large side for this Forum. One thing you must remember that all Upload speeds are much slower than Download speeds. The tinternet is built like that because let's admit most people Download all the time so it has highest priority. So to take 40 odd secs for a 4 meg file is not really too long.

But as I said you could already do it anyway. It's R.S-S who should try it.

I must admit that I have been given some help with the location of Mr Jackson's photograph.  If I am correct, the building in the background is Newtown School, the shop being opposite the Squirrel..

Correct, it was a fruit and veg stall run by a guy called Ben Garside. I don't know when he last sold a potato but it was a derelect shed for years before it was finally demolished in about 1986 ( it was in a very dangerous condition). The tool-hire business was then built and now it is a label printing business.

This building was directly next to a primary school, would you let your kids play on that spare ground?

The original heading for this topic was goung to be Where?

This was not the only shop in this part of Newtown. Nellie Handley had a grocery and sweet shop and Murray's bakers and confectioners was opposite.
