Hi there, we are moving from Kent to Whaley Bridge as I have fallen in love with it, it's so beautiful. Work brings us to the north. What can you tell me about your lovely town. We need o know where the good pubs are, the restaurants, the walks etc or maybe you can guide me to another web site? Thanks

Knew I had a map somewhere...
Pubs shown in black text.
Recommended footpaths and quiet lanes suitable for walking shown in green and yellow respectively. Many other paths are available
PS I would not really describe Whaley Lane (going off the top of the map on the left) as being quiet and suitable for walking once you have left the built up area Edited by user 10 August 2011 22:10:12(UTC)
| Reason: Whaley Lane - Not a good walking |

Hi missunshine,
It's a while since I left Kent. No hopfields, cockles or cherry orchards here but then there's no M25, or people with second homes in Whitstable. You can listen to the traffic hold up news about the M20, A249 and M2/A2 while driving to Chapel or Buggy and watching the moon or sunset.
Rockbanker has outlined the best pubs...but if you get home sick ..try the Vale inn at Bollington..good food, beer and more than it's fair share of Astra Zeneca employees from daaan saaaf.
Cheers

Just a correction to the map for people who don't know the area. The northerley, or top, White Horse should be the White Hart.

Having moved to Whaley from Sussex almost 5 years ago, I can say it's a great move and lifestyle change - you won't regret it or want to move back!
There are also loads of great restaurants, bars and coffee shops in Buxton, which is 3 stops on the train, or the 199 bus goes to Stockport up the A6 - very easy and convenient for the many Restaurants there (highly recomment Lime Lounge for an Indian!)......As said above there are plenty of us southeners around!!
