Morning all - the verges on the road from Whaley to Disley are very long and making it very difficult for ramblers who walk on the verges at points between footpaths. Does anyone know who to contact to get them cut? Are they a council responsibility or the farmer who owns the fields adjacent? I'm worried that someone will be knocked over at some point and would like to make the correct noises so that they are cut. Thank you in anticipation

It is the responsibility of the HIghway Authority.  In this case Cheshire East and Derbyshire CC, who may have devolved it to High Peak Borough Council.  Our experience at  the footpath society is that Cheshire are easier to deal with than Derbyshire so I would start there.  They have an online fault reporting system. at http://maps.cheshire.gov.uk/cheshirecc.interactivemapping.web.internet/Default.aspx?region=1#aTabTop3

If you need any help with this do let me know.
The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.
