I was told that the best time to buy a classic car was at the end of summer when demand was at its lowest - so I have my cheque book at the ready.

I've always wanted an Austin Healey Mark III but am a bit stuck.

Has anyone had any experience of School Garage and should I be directing my business towards them?

Their motors always look a bit pricey and a bit too specialist.

Hi

Who ever you buy a car of this type from-it is essential that you get a specialist to look at it.

For instance, I know of a local garage that bought a car for resale.  My friend who was a specialist in that marque only,  advised his own client not to buy the same car  for the cost of an inspection fee. I think the words barge and pole were mentioned.

Cheers

Some of the local shows might be a good starter as there are classic cars there en masse.Unfortunately I think they have all finished now, but I presume they will have websites with links.Try Hope show,Chatsworth show websites.

Don't these classic car people have forums that they chat on? I know my son bought an Alfa Romeo (old model) and spends hours chatting to people on a specialist forum. Perhaps worth a try?

A Very Good friend from knutsford has just purchased an Austin Healey 3000 Mk 3.

From The School Garage, it cost him Circa £45000.

he had it inspected by a leading healey expert called john chatham.

who said it was the best he had seen in years.!!

and lets face it, they have over 50 cars in stock worth fortunes,

i doubt very much if the owner needs to buy But the very very best,

as he can afford too,

i understand a lot of his cars go abroad to famous collectors etc. so my friend tells me.

and lets face it, how many normal people in whaley bridge could afford a car over £45K.!!

not me, that for certain.!!

Hi Chaps and Chapesses,

I am a little concerned that this forum thread  is being used by anonymous people to have a completely unfounded pop at a local business. It reads to me like some members are trying to potentially tarnish their reputation.

This is simply not on, and I will be deleting any further posts that I think are continuing in this vein.

Cheers

Jon.

Lovejoy/silversurfer,

please keep your offthread digs at each other somewhere else, preferably not on this forum, but if you must, confine it to your own thread.

Thanks.

Jon.

The thread has been edited and closed at the request of Mr Silversurfer, due to a letter of complaint received by him.
