The dates and streets have just been announced for the Olympic Torch Relay and the good news is that the Torch will appear within five miles of 95% of the UK population.
The bad news is that Whaley Bridge falls into the unlucky 5%
For those who can be bothered the Torch Relay will appear in Buxton on Friday June 29th.

The One Show 1000 relay is, however, passing through Whaley this coming Thursday, on its way out of Manchester heading for Buxton then on towards Nottingham. 07:00 in Manchester, 11:00 in Buxton. I meant to sign up to do a mile and then didn't get a round tuit ... Edited by user 20 March 2012 17:59:05(UTC)
