Hi,

My brother and I frequently visit Whaley Bridge and were wondering who held the fishing rights to the River Goyt adjacent to the canal basin?

It looks an ideal spot for chub with the overhanging branches and little disturbance. I know there are trout in there, we often watch them rising in the pool lower down, but it is not them we are after catching.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Digger,

I am not sure who owns the fishing rights where you are speaking about. Disley and New Mills Angling club do own rights on some of the Goyt I think.

Best bet would be to ask in the Tackle Box on Old Road.

Good Luck and tight lines.
