Popped in for a pint tonight & learnt the D&P is to close under the current landlady Kate. So sad to see another local close & wish her well. She ran the pub for 16 years or so & created a community there, I just hope the owners keep it tenanted. Sadly all down to profit & loss; no profit to the Landlady (plenty to  the brewery) &  loss to the village. Cheers Kate

That's really sad news - we were down there last week and Kate didn't let on about the closure then. Another great pub closes, and as you say cheers Kate!

A sad and depressingly familiar tale.

You can't buy atmosphere, but Tescos are selling Ten calns of Stella for £8

One day the penny might drop.

How very, very sad to hear of the closure of the Dog & Partridge at Bridgemont.  It holds wonderful memories for lots of local folk.  I moved into Bridgemont in 1995, the same month that Kate took over the pub.   She pulled it round and made it one of the best pubs in the area.   Over the years Kate has been landlady she has pulled off some of the best and most memorable parties ever!!  Lots of love and best wishes Kate - and thanks for all your hard work and loyalty to the community.   We're all proud of you - you did a grand job! Lorraine & Hal Debes.

Well, no sign of a sale yet, I note. Wish I had the finances to make an offer - a pub and two terraced cottages?

Anyway - where have all the D&P regulars gone now - does anyone know?

A bunch of us go down to the Goyt now but maybe it won't be such an attractive idea when the nights get darker, colder and icey.........

Can anybody suggest a replacement for their monthly quiz night in the Whaley / Furness area? As a new dad, my nights out are few and far between and their monthly quiz was my favourite excuse for a trip to the pub.

They have a quiz onThursday night at the Navigation in Bugsworth. I think it is every week.

Is there any recent news of the D & P.  ?  Their Facebook account https://www.facebook.com/dogand.partridge.3?ref=ts&fref=tshttps://www.facebook.com...ref=ts&fref=ts  seems to be active again

We went to the feed suppliers at Bridgemont today and the front door of the D+P was open; it looked like some building / decorating work was being done inside ...

Apparently the D+P is being turned back into two houses, and further houses will be built on what used to be the car park.

Found the planning application.

It appears to be open for comments:

Good afternoon.

More houses to be built on land adjacent to the Dog and Partridge?
