The annual car rally through the quieter roads and trails of the Goyt valley and surrounding areas takes place this weekend. Late on Saturday night and early Sunday morning up to 60 cars( travelling at a maximum of 30mph) drive around the valley including , I think Taxal and Combs. I don't know what type of cars they are or which organisation is involved as I didn't have my reading glasses handy when I saw the notice but, someone must have given permision. One track they will use in the early hours of Sunday is the higher route around the Fernilee reservoir which has been recently resurfaced and is already suffering from scrambler bike damage.
Does anyone know anything about this rally? Maybe I am unnecessarily concerned?

I've never heard of this at all rosemary. I too would be interested to know more, as it seems a very strange event. Let's hope someone can shed some light on the subject.

I think what you are referring to is the Drystone rally run by the Mid Derbyshire Motoring Club.i must admit i thought it was in July though i may be wrong.it is a navigational rally and starts at Carsington water,im not sure of the route but it might be interesting to go and watch. They have a website which is www.mid-derbyshiremc.co.uk hope this has helped.

The web-site does say 18th -19th of July. I'll go back to the notice I saw WITH my reading glasses!

We in Chapel have our annual car rally on the same day as the carnival. It consists of a number of hooligans in old bangers driving round Thornbrook Road and Grange Park Road at high speed until the early hours of the morning.
