Good afternoon.
Is the Whaley Bridge Facebook page an extension of the website "whaleybridge.com” and is it supported by Whaley Bridge Town Council?

The Facebook page is nothing to do with Whaleybridge.com or the town council. |

The facebook page is brilliant. Lots of people involved regular posts and a good vibe. Whoever runs this should get some tips and even work with them together. That idea on the history board about putting all the history photos on the facebook page is a good one.

Good evening.
Thank you Mr Trueman for informing us the Whaley Bridge Facebook page has nothing to do with Whaley Bridge Town Council.
There have been an increasing number of references to the Whaley Bridge Facebook page on this forum recently and I have taken the opportunity to visit the site.
My first impression was it is well presented and there are many articles that relate to subjects on this forum and also on the website “whaleybridge.com.”
Pictures which have appeared on this forum and whaleybridge.com have also been duplicated on the Facebook page.
I cannot find any indication on the Facebook page who actually administers it and it is not clear whether this is deliberate or not.
If you search “Whaley Bridge” on Facebook you are directed to this site and my concern is a viewer may get the impression that it is a council backed site which is not the case.
My question, which is probably best directed to Chairman Jon, is as follows:
Are Whaley Bridge Town Council comfortable with a Facebook page which gives the impression that it represents Whaley Bridge?

Hi HE,
The internet is the Internet. I believe that Neville Clarke is involved with the Facebook site, and I am sure that Whaley will therefore be well represented.
Cheers
Jon.

'Whaley Bridge' is someone - could be any number of people, with 'admin' rights, and all anonymously posting as 'Whaley Bridge'.
I've already read some coded snipe on it referring to this forum.
On FB you post as yourself, hence why I shan't be posting anything.
