Thanks: 1 times
My mother, who is a patient at Goyt Valley Medical Practice, is no longer able to be cared for in the local residential care home where she has been living for the last few months as her condition has gone downhill rapidly.  Her GP requested that she be admitted to Fenton Ward at the Cavendish Hospital in Buxton where she could receive the necessary investigations and care before she was transferred to a nursing home.  However, he was told that they are currently only admitting patients who have been referred to them by Buxton-based GPs.  The GP will take this up from his end, but if any Forum readers have any influence over the powers that be, I would be grateful if they could raise this sorry state of affairs in the right places.  Once we finally get my mother settled in a nursing home and hopefully receiving the treatment she deserves I will take this up with our local MP and Primary Care Trust.  Whaley elderly have paid their taxes just the same as Buxton-based ones and as we don’t have our own specialist ward for the elderly in Whaley Bridge, it seems that they have to suffer.

Hello

There is now a health and social care consumer watchdog in Derbyshire called Heathwatch Derbyshire. Indeed I attended its launch in High Peak on Tuesday this week. This is exactly the type of matter that it wants to hear about and attempt to resolve.
Contact details:
• Email: enquiries@healthwatchderbyshire.co.uk
• Website: www.healthwatchderbyshire.co.uk
• Telephone: 01773 880786
• Address: Healthwatch Derbyshire Suite 14, Riverside Business Centre Foundry Lane, Milford Derbyshire, DE56 0RN.

Go ahead and contact them.
