Some schools are closing to pupils on Thursday and Friday this week because of inset days. Isn't it curious that inset days always precede a school holiday. Can anyone tell us exactly what teachers do on these inset days?

Staff training!!! I can assure you that most teachers would rather spend the day with the pupils but it's used for things like first aid training, SEN updates, assessment and recording, etc.
