Look as if Whaley Bridge would be replaced by one in Furnace.   Is  that because they could sell the site in Whaley for housing?
The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.

At least they have spelt Furness Vale correctly here:

http://www.buxtonadvertiser.co.uk/news/local/high-peak-fire-stations-facing-closure-1-6102153

Does anyone know where they intend to build the new Fire Station in Furness?

Good evening.

For those interested, there is an opportunity to have a say on the plans to close the fire station behind the White Hart at a consultation event on 22 November.

Good afternoon.

Derbyshire Fire Authority has approved for consultation a plan by it's Chief Fire Officer that will transform Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service.

The proposals include:

Loss of 11 Fire Stations (including Whaley Bridge Station).

Loss of 100 Full-Time Firefighters.

Loss of 16 Fire Engines.

The consultation period began on 1 October and ends on 23 December 2013.

For those who wish to have their say a consultation response survey can be completed here:

http://www.derbys-fire.gov.uk/have-your-say/transforming-service-delivery-for-2022-and-beyond-fit-to-respond-consultation

Fire authority members can be contacted directly at:

david.lomax@derbyshire.gov.uk

roland.hosken@derbyshire.gov.uk

paul.bayliss@derbyshire.gov.uk

If you object to the proposed plan a petition can be signed at:

http://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/stop-derbyshire-fire-rescue-service-cuts

Please remember the consultation period ends on 23 December 2013.

Good afternoon.

After the public consultation where 85 per cent of respondents said they were opposed to the plans, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Authority has agreed to look at station closures only as a last resort.

http://www.buxtonadvertiser.co.uk/news/local/authority-sets-out-future-of-county-s-fire-service-1-6438487

It is very pleasing to see the Fire and Rescue Authority have listened to public opinion as did East Midlands Ambulance Service who decided against ambulance station closures after listening to the views of the public.

They realised that 107 houses were going up and felt that the increase in population would make their existence viable!
