Whaley Bridge Fireworks- Parade postponed but fireworks still on

The lantern parade from Taxal School has been cancelled tonight due to the weather forecast. The fireworks however are still planned to continue at Whaley Bridge Bowling Club from 7:30.

Sadly the weather took contol last night but I think cancelling the parade was the correct decision. I was unable to attend as the pets needed looking after on what is always a traumatic night for them BUT the Samba band sounded amazing from my bathroom window and I enjoyed the ariel fireworks which I could see from the house!!
This event does not happen by accident and may I thank all of the people who made it possible for giving up their time and all of their hard work.

Yes, my family all enjoyed it despite the weather. Hats off to the stewards who must have been out in the wind and rain for hours. The braziers were spectacular and the fireworks possibly even better than last year. Oh, and we will be getting some of those 'Whaley Burgers' for our own bonfire with friends tomorrow. Matt |
