What an inactive forum this website has become.
Have the moderators stifled free speech and rational debate?

Is there nothing anyone to raise?
What about the on-street parking, at certain times of the day it can take 25 minutes to drive from Horwich End traffic lights to Bridgemont roundabout. Whaley Bridge is no longer a Town / Village it's a car park!
Wait until those houses are built on Linglongs with every house having two cars or more. Whaley Bridge will be a place to avoid and the Town Centre will die.
Towns like Castleton who rely on tourists have adequate parking and don't allow parking on the main street. Whaley main street is a nightmare, Canal Street and the Canal Basin are no-go areas which is how the whole of Whaley will become without radical thinking and new ideas sadly lacking from those in authority.

If you look back through this forum you will see that I have commented on this topic. And also that I have been abused and insulted by certain members who feel that their need to park their cars outside their houses is far more import than the need of the rest of us including the emergency services to move freely.

I have also pointed out the simple solution. Restrict parking on Buxton Road between the Cock and the traffic lights to one side of the road only, even if only during the day. Some of the congestion is caused by inconsiderate driving - the push forward at all costs mentality rather than hanging back and allowing oncoming traffic to clear an obstacle. And many drivers seem unaware of the width of their vehicle. On several occasions I have been held up behind a driver unwilling or unable to drive through a gap half a meter wider than his car.

But when double parking is officially condoned in the centre of the village ....
The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.
