Please accept my ignorance but as a relative newcomer to Whaley I am not sure where the border between Whaley Bridge and Horwich End is. Can someone please enlighten me.

Location: Whaley Bridge at heart

I matters not as you are an incomer but I cannot think of any greater subject if you were a local. Ps. you will be accepted as a local straight away. This means we will talk to you as an equal but you have to live here for 90+ years and then some more to be really accepted. The real answer to your question is the river junction near the Park Cafe.

I have always been told the following:

The North of the Village is Whaley Bridge and the South is Horwich End.

The border running from West to East is down the middle of the reservoir, through the memorial park to the position where the Randall Carr Brook meets the Goyt, up the Carr across the railway line to the junction of Rock Bank and Old Road, and up to Horwich House.

For example:

Reservoir Road is in Whaley, and the Football Pitch is in Horwich End.

Goyt Road is in Horwich End and Wharf Road is in Whaley.

The Cock is in Whaley and the White Horse is in Horwich End.

New Horwich Road is in Whaley and Rock Bank is in Horwich End.

I hope this is of some help.
