Hi everyone,

I was reading the book "Whaley Bridge in Picture Postcards" in Whaley Bridge Library when I came across this story. Apparantly a man cutting wood in Cadster wood came across a large stone flag on the ground and on lifting it found a grave of a knight in full armour. Could anyone shed any light on this story ? Who he may have been ? Does the grave still exist? I find this a really intriguing story.

There are numerous barrows in Cadster, many were opened in Victorian times and one skeleton may have had some ancient armour? In Cadster farm there used to be a skull (lots of legends about Dicky) on the windowsill which was subsequetly buried and is still out there. Although people claim all sorts of stories about Dicky I knnow he came from one of these barrows. I'll give you a clue - look near the old stone circle...
