The recent snow has reminded me of some of the stories that my Grandfather told of winters in Buxton gone by.  He took a number of photographs of the experimental jet-powered snow blower used in the area in 1947. Here is some film of it, or one similar, in action

I have to admire the intrepid gentlemen on the wagon, and the protective homburg hat worn by the brave man walking a few feet behind the jet blast..
