Have been looking at this at the Corner Shop, as well as on line. Looking good so far, but for me the best thing is that there will be a full time warden/ranger looking after the park.

Perhaps this will reduce the vandalism, stop the smaller children being terrorised by the yobby elements who gather to drink and smoke in the play area, stop people cycling through the park, and have an effect on the small number of dog owners who do not pick up their dogs poo.

I look forward to seeing this project move forward.

Great

400 grand is a lot of money-maybe we could have a new sculpture "the angel of the Goyt" or a few more dog poo bins or even make the memorial accessible to the ageing war veterans so they don't have to honour their  fallen comrades in a pub car park, a pub that isn't even open.

On the other hand - a fraction of that amount could build a new youth centre and would be money well spent, of more benefit to the community, a higher priority and deserving of a grant

Cheers

Hi,

The total amount is actually around £740K.. I think around 340K + is for initial capital spend with the rest to support a 5 year timescale .

Can I point you all at the HPBC website where you can see some more details.

http://www.highpeak.gov.uk/culture/parks/memorial/memorial_park.asp

I'm going to be at Tescos all day tomorrow(Saturday 6th Feb  9am-4pm) providing information about the bid with my  'Friends of the Park' hat on. If you want to talk to me about this or anything else then please come down and say hello.  I can swap the hat to 'Town Councillor' if you wish to talk about anything else.(I will carry a copy of the Times under my left arm in order to aid recognition)

I havn't seen the latest budgets for the bid which is why I say 340K + above. The bid is changing all the time. I will be asking questions myself tomorrow, as the project manager for the bid will be there, and I hope you will be too.

This is a  fantastic opportunity for a huge amount of money to be invested in Whaley Bridge, and I hope the bid is successfull. Your support in filling in the questionaires can help it to be successfull by demonstrating the local support for the bid. Please try to do this.

So pop down tomorrow if you havn't already !

Cheers

Jon.
