Dear All

I thought I would share some information with you.

I have downloaded a film  on WB .

However after saving it to my favourites,   I thought it would be easy to  put it on here but I am having a problem with it !!!!

Anyway the best way I am going to share this with you is for you to go to  You Tube, and then put in Whaley Bridge, you will then see Pram Race, and  Viagra !!!

The Pram Race looks around 1956-7 and Viagra is well  im not sure !!!!

However it does show an early film of Whaley Bridge, and the chimney coming down, you will see why it was named Viagra !

I hope that you have got a good pair of glasses for this one R S S as we need your help !!!!!

Well its 1.45am and time for bed !!!!

Fr Jamie

Good afternoon Jamie Richard MacLeod.

I know it's unusual but it would appear R. S-S is unable to help you on this subject. However, do not worry because the man who will be able to provide you with details of the Pram Race is G Jackson. I'm not sure whether he features in the film but he can definitely identify some of the participants.

Old Jacko will also be able to inform you of the ups and downs of Viagra.

Firstly may I say how annoying it is to be called "OLD" by Horwich Ender, he should know better and call me Mr. Jackson or indeed sir considering my age.

Secondly may I inform anyone interested in the pram race the couple dressed as a fox and hound are the landlord and landlady of the Shady Oak. (this is only what I have been told). The organiser of the event which raised money for the older folk in Whaley Bridge, providing them usually with a sack of coal and a box of provisions, was Mr. Bill Nickious (sp ?) and I seem to remember the winner was probably Mr. David Thorpe. Also in the film is Lynn Edwards , Mary Mort's son.(now known as Glynn Edwards) and I seem to remember Mavis Ashworth. The year was about 1967.

The first annual pram race was won by David Thorpe playing Mum and Keith Longden playing Baby.

David and Keith had a pint of bitter each in every pub and their winning time was never bettered in subsequent years even though some Mums and Babies cheated by drinking halves.

One rather unfortunate incident occurred in the then Jolly Roger when George Willman, a Baby, dressed only in a nappy somehow contrived to get his safety pin caught on a bar stool and this resulted in the loss of the nappy and George tried valiantly to hide his modesty and other things under the tap room carpet.
All this took place in front of the very prudish Miss Nugent (now Emily Bishop) from Coronation Street.
No wonder she alternates very quickly from the Church to the Rovers.
