Dennis tells me he is hoping to be open next week.

However, he's been hoping for "next week" (relative to when asked) for a good few weeks now!

I spoke to Dennis tonight.

There are still a couple of  small legal loose ends to be tied up relating to the previous owner, but once these are sorted Dennis will open. These have been the cause of the delays. He would have liked to have been open by now !

If the following wind is right, then the plan is to open on Wednesday this coming week.

Dennis will continue to run his mobile chippy as well, so those of you who currently enjoy great chips in laybys can sleep in peace.

Cheers

Jon.

I always wonder about these food places in lay-bys.

What are the toilet facilities and hygiene rules?

How is stock kept at the correct temperautures and in the right conditions?

Have they got a licence?

Who in their right mind would want to stand in the cold and the rain to get their chips?

In answer to to your questions, Harry...

1. Don't know, but Dennis's unit is immaculate and has washing facilities

2. In fridges in the unit, and only has that day's stock kept in it, prepared beforehand before setting out.

3. Yes, its on display behind the fryer.

4. Me (and many many others) - its worth it for the high quality of the food.

I thought it was more like this

1. He has a big labrador that licks EVERYTHING spotless.

2. See 1.

3. Yes, a gun licence for moaning customers.

4. Me again cos I like chips.

Maybe buggyite's answers are closer the mark though.

Nowhere did I doubt the quality, what I doubted was the mentality of standing in inclement weather for chips. I am of an age when when I have an aversion to getting soaked whilst queuing for food, or for that matter, getting run over by out of control vehicles. Not just there but at other similar sites. If people wish to queue, good luck to them but I shan't be joining them.

Actually, Harry, only ¼ of your original post concerned standing outside in the rain.

The other ¾ implied you had an issue with the food standards.

...and the answer to the WC question is?

I am allowed to have an opinion aren't I? Whether it is McDonald's or a chippy, I prefer to know that ALL aspects of a business have the required facilities.

The Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992, provide that adequate numbers of clean washing and toilet facilities be available and accessible to workers. This is supported by an Approved Code of Practice, which establishes a consistent set of standards for most workplaces.
Number of workers Number of toilets 1-5 1 6-25 2 26-50 3 51-75 4 76-100 5 100+ +1 for every additional 25 workers.

...and your point is?

Greenfields are full of grass, which is what I assume you have been smoking.

Dennis is opening tomorrow - there's a note on the door, so all should be well now and there'll be fish for tea.
