Could it be?
On the well-known Rose Queen picture posted by Curious, the one with the missing posters there are three St, Johns Ambulance men back right.
Could one of them perhaps be the one at the back of the group shown in the cuttings below from “The Reporter May 29th 1915” looks rather like him to me. umtali attached the following image(s):

Brilliant article thanks for posting**.Nice to see some relivant social history of Whaley Bridge. I must agreee it certainly seems to be the same chap I am 99% certain it is. It's a great thing to be able to put names to be people on old photograph's. Not only that understand a little as to whom they were. Most interesting indeed!

Hi
An interesting account by a local WW1 stretcher bearer. Reading between the lines, there is a desperate shortage of basic equipment.
Younger members may not be aware of the heavy press censorship that was in place at the time and the content of the letter does not really convey the absolute hell like condtions that this chap and other local men were enduring. Lest we forget.
