I hope the steam trains have powerful engines because according to this weeks Buxton Advertiser, the railway station at Dove Holes is 3,335 metres above sea level!

Yes, I spotted that and it was correction from the week before. Mt. Everest is only 8,848 metres, so to get a train to almost half that height is a fantastic achievement!

Here are some more dates for steam trains passing through.
Sunday 17th March. Two black 5s passing thro. Chinley late morning on route to Shefield.
Saturday 6th April. 70013 Oliver Cromwell will be visiting Buxton via the Hope Valley line arriving approx.14.00. It will leave Buxton approx. 17.00.hrs and pass thro. Whaley Bridge.
Sunday 14th April. 70013 will be visiting Rowsley.

The date for this train was postponed until May 25th, and has since been further postponed until THURSDAY 30th May. They cite engineering works as the cause of the postponement. As far as I am aware, it is still hauled by 70013 Oliver Cromwell, and should be in Buxton from 14.15 until 17.00 |

The date of the Buxton Spa Express has been changed YET AGAIN. It is now supposed to be running on Thursday 27th June , but still with Britannia class loco 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" |
