I hope the steam trains have powerful engines because according to this weeks Buxton Advertiser, the railway station at Dove Holes is 3,335 metres above sea level!

Yes, I spotted that and it was correction from the week before. Mt. Everest is only 8,848 metres, so to get a train to almost half that height is a fantastic achievement!

What is a missing decimal point between friends?
The optimist believes that Whaley Bridge is the best place in the world to live. The pessimist fears he might be correct.

Hi,

Does anybody know if this is happening tomorrow?  I can find a date of 30 May for the route, but nothing about tomorrow.  I'll watch out for it around 5.15pm anyway

The date for this train was postponed until May 25th, and has since been further postponed until THURSDAY 30th May. They cite engineering works as the cause of the postponement. As far as I am aware, it is still hauled by 70013 Oliver Cromwell, and should be in Buxton from 14.15 until 17.00

For those interested in steam specials, the best site is www.uksteam.info
Follow the link on the right hand side for the current year, and scroll down. Times are usually posted a week or so in advance.
