Yesterday, after many weeks of urging,High Peak Borough Council's Clean Team came to remove the road cones thrown down the Bridgemont roundabout embankment. They also felt it their duty to remove the cones and plastic barriers left over from the installation of the tactile pavements. This means yobs will not be able to throw the cones and plastic barriers into the canal, the bushes, the trees, etc..

As taxpayers the men were well aware that we have invested in the cones and barriers so they should not be discarded like this. All equipment has had to be paid for and should be in constant use.

I am sure this will be a completely new concept to Derbyshire County Council, in this instance, and to all our utilities.

I am able to understand that a draconian new law on road cones will probably lead to their being hung in trees in plastic bags.
