I see that the petrol from Tesco is rising at a greater rate than the petrol at Morrisons.  It used to be the case that Tesco was far higher in price, but then we went through a period when there was parity between the two.  Tescos are obviously after even larger profits next year and so today was selling unleaded at 95.9p/litre, it is 93.9p/litre at Morrisons.  Only 2p/litre difference, but as Tescos are so keen to remind us - every little helps'.

I've noticed this as well. Diesel at Tesco is 103.9p and 102.9p at Morrisons. As you say, it isn't a lot, but......!

I do appreciate the problem but can only say that not only does every little help but it pays my wages..........! Not that they pay me 3.13 billion a year but as a share holder I do benefit from their innovative pricing policy.

Catch 22 really as Tesco will get it back from me when I do fill up with their very expensive petrol.

Nice to have you back Fedup

Nice to be back, Jake! Far be it from me to take money from your pocket - I shall fill my vehicle at Tesco tomorrow, without fail!

A warm welcome back to you this sunny morning Fedup, I have missed you.

I shall follow your very fine example and will also fill up my own car at the corner shop this morning.

It really had not occurred to me that I was taking the food out of our dear leader’s mouth by patronising Morrisons. I shall never again set foot in that store or use their refuelling facilities.

I am sorry for my actions My Lord.

I knew we could rely on R.S-S to do the decent thing! I dutifully filled up at Tesco today, and whilst paying offered a donation to the King Jake Cnut Relief Fund. However, the slightly bemused cashier informed me that no such facility was currently available, but promised to mention it to Terry Leahy on his next visit. I am sure that he will be delighted to implement such a Fund for one of his hardworking and loyal slaves and may well make a very generous donation himself. Let us hope, however, that his donation does not take the form of carrots, dirty or polished!

I hope that you have both now filled up at the corner shop. The idea was to kep the profits rolling in that way we may get a pay rise this year (unlike many I'm afraid) it was not to set up a relief fund for me However the more I think about it the more I like it.

I have given up polishing carrots

I have today written to Terry Leahy, just in case the cashier in the petrol station forgets to ask, urging him to hurry through permission for the King Jake Cnut Relief Fund. I await his reply with bated breath!

I fear your wait for a visitation from the great one on high could be a long one.

The last time he ventured anywhere near the frozen North he was attired very strangely indeed, for he had upon his head not a crown but a dead fox.

I enquired as to the meaning of this strange headwear to which he replied thus;

"Upon dressing this morning, my good Lady asked to which part of the Empire I was gracing with my presence?"

"Somewhere up North" I replied

"Up North? Wear the fox hat!"

He asked me if I thought it was rather fetching so I said the only thing that needed fetching was the men in white coats.

You have obviously seen the Fox Hat I brought back from India

I do look a prat in it but it did the job and kept my head warm in the freezing winter mornings.

The men in white coats never turned up but I have to agree they should have done.

A very warm welcome to you High Peak Harry,

This forum needs some new blood and a very interesting second contribution if I may say so.

Ah yes, the old fox hat.

We had better give KSJC a few days to take that one in.

R. S-S

I know I'm slow but I get there in the end. You must mean this joke. Nice one High Peak Harry, but I do have a "Fox Hat".

Last month Prince Charles and Camilla visited Worcester and all the civic dignitaries were lined up at Worcester station ready for the Royal train to arrive, As the train wheezed and huffed to a standstill the door to the Royal carriage opened and out stepped HRH sporting a genuine fox fur hat, with the poor creature's tail hanging forlornly down his back.

The Mayor of Worcester and the Lord Lieutenant of the County stepped forward and the Lord Lieutenant whispered in Charlie's ear, "My God, your Highness, it's one of the hottest days of the year, and - I mean, I know your views about hunting - but it's hardly politically correct, wearing a fox fur hat, now is it?"

"What???" exclaimed Charles, "oh, this old thing," he indicated his hat, "Mummy's idea!"

"Mummy's idea?" said the Lord Lieutenant incredulously, "you mean Her Majesty the Queen's idea???"

"Oh yes," replied Charles, "you see, at breakfast she asked me what I was doing today, and I told her that I was coming to Worcester and she said 'Worcester? Wear the fox hat?'"

It still makes me chuckle

Jake

Well spotted my friend,

Your comic powers are becoming legendary. Now I am about to sit down to watch Britain’s got Talent and I promise if I see you on the show I will telephone you with my congratulations immediately after it finishes.

I am sure you will go through to the next round; if you don’t Simon Cowell will have me to answer to.

I'm afraid it was my poor old brain that needed a few minutes to catch on to that one!

Good Day to you High Peak Harry. As R.S-S says, it is good to have someone new putting their offerings onto the Forum table! Keep it up!

Have you caught up yet Fedup.

R. S-S thinks I'm masquerading on Britain's Got Talent. I have been mistaken for that idiot DJ Talent , the bloke with 28 gold teeth, god help me, just have a look at what has been going on under the "Corner Shop" topic. We at least kept it sensible and informative with the No Peel Carrot & the non Leaking Tomato".

I'm not sure if drink is involved, "know what I mean Harry".

When I made my weekly visit to the corner shop on Saturday, I was delighted to see, as I approached the doors, someone doing a collectionn on behalf of what I thought was the King Jake Cnut Relief Fund. Imagine my disappointment when I realised that it was, in fact, a collection on behalf of the RSPCA!

However, now I have uncovered the dreadful deeds inflicted by King Jake upon the unfortunate felines of Whaley Bridge, I wish I had reported him there and then!

As for your question "Have you caught up yet Fedup", may I just say that I don't wish to catch up with you, and I just hope that I will not have to endure the sight of you wearing the rest of Ginger in the form of ear muffs this coming winter!

I was at Tesco last Saturday (31st May) and as the filling station was quiet i.e. only three cars, so much against my feelings about this company regarding fuel policies, I decided to fill up with petrol.

As I went on my way to Yorkshire I realised why the place was so quiet. The Whaley Tesco fuel prices were the dearest I saw in two days and in a couple of cases by as much as 6p per litre.

Once bitten once again
