Morning all (for it is 00.24)
Just been to an interesting "regeneration" meeting in the Mechanics where ideas for acheivable low cost projects were being discussed to improve our enviroment.
Well my obvious idea was -lets tidy up the canal basin area. Some of you may have noticed that a little mowing and strimming and minor tree surgery has been taking place prior to next weekends Whaley Water Weekend. Apparantley there are cobbles underneath the weeds!
What we are looking for is folk that care and have passion and a feeling of pride for their town who are prepared to get hands on and sort the "picturesque" canal basin out.
So, at 10 am on Sunday a few of us will be there to litter pick, weed and do some light gardening duties-some equipment will be provided-gardening gloves will be useful-hi vis jackets, steel toe capped boots and health and safety briefings will not be issued-nor will you be insured.
Join our W3 team or just help out for the morning or next weekend....see you there
Cheers
Barry

Extremely admirable. Assuming I can get rid of this stinking cold I will be there. Pity you can't get the kids to do all the work again and us just hold bin bags out for them.... Worked for me on their sponsored litter pick. |

Thanks Nev
Also to the others that turned up including George with his prototype motorised weed removing gadget. It is looking a lot better down there now.

Mine and Zara's exercise done for the week.
No 'before' shots unfortunately and none of George's marvelous machinery but here's one after we'd finished. Any complaints that you can now see the road should be directed at Barry... |

When you see it looking tidy like this it just cries out to be used more for the town. Well at least it will be next weekend and I hope it all goes well.
Well done the people who cleaned it up today.

What lush green grass we have, you'd have never thought so with all the carrier bags and take-away wrappers that were once strewn across the place. Well done everyone

I'm back now. Yes I agree. Will be there this weekend spending my well earned pennies. Hope the weather is kind, seems in the balance at the moment.
