Hi I have quite a few old photos that were scanned for me from an old family album, unfortunately neither myself or my cousin know who these people are. I am hoping that someone may recognise a face. They are believed to be from the Middleton's, Heathcote's and Hodgkinson's from the Furness Vale, Whaley Bridge, Chapel & Flagg areas. If anyone can help identify these people I would be very greatful. Thanks so much Emma Gaulton (Newbie) PS: If I have not done this post correctly please let me know how I rectify it and please accept my apologise for any errors.

Hi Jegmouse,
Thanks for putting these up. I do not immediately recognize any of the faces or any of the backgrounds from round here, but perhaps others may be able to help. Hopefully someone will else will bump into them during searches and may be able to help.
Cheers

I suggest Chinley Station Footbridge on P2, and the path from Stubbins Lane across the footbridge for two on p4

If anyone is interested, thanks to Catherine from the New Mills Library I have been able to identify one of the men in the PDF, on page 7, top left is a photo of Thomas Middleton (died 1917 Egypt), His photo appeared in The Reporter on the 17th Nov 1917.

I may have come across something the two pictures that contain a man in railway uniform in the area of Chinley - could very will be Frank Middleton - just found the 1911 census for him and he was a Shunter and lived in Chinley.

Bridgestreet has posted some enhanced images of the two railwaymen photos. It is now clear that the man in the top photo is wearing the uniform of the London North Western Railway. He was probably working on the Stockport to Buxton line which was operated by that company. Chinley was a Midland Railway station and the uniform in the bottom photo is quite different.

Hi Jegmouse,
It is interesting that there are 3 photo's from Oldham. It might be that there is a family connection there. If you are doing your family history it might be worthwhile doing some research in that area.
Good luck with your reaearch.
