Hello my good friend George,

Here is a photo of the old chimney that you refer to that was dropped in the early 1930’s

Were you on the Bings for that one?

Hi R S-S

Yes I was on the Bings, don't you remember, you lifted me up so I could see better. What year was it I can't remember and I missed putting it in my diary

Well here we go Frankie,

I realise I am risking the wrath of Dora and Silversurfer but I don’t think I shall bother asking them/him permission on this or anything else come to that.

Right that said Frankie I have recently come across an old picture of a Whaley Bridge chimney repair. I have made enquiries about the steeplejacks and have been reliably informed that they were:

1 Harry Lamp, chimney sweep from Horwich End.
2 Your good self as Works Inspector.
3 Fred Dibnah your trusty assistant all the way from Bolton. There to hold your hand I suppose.

Where on earth did you manage to get such a long ladder from Frankie?

Thanks: 3 times

I walked down Bingswood Avenue yesterday and noticed that the railway tracks are visible beneaththe pot holes and worn road surface. I'm sure most Whaley residents will have seen these.  If the proposed bridge is built and the heavy vehicles diverted, it would be interesting if these rails and the original road surface could be restored as they are an important part of local industrial history.
