Whaley Hall
From Fr Jamie
Dear R S S,
This is a picture that I took about a year ago, when I got a new digital camera, I have been taking pictures of the Hall through the different seasons, and putting records together, this has not been an easy task !!!!!
Anyway sorry for the 2 pictures of the front door, still trying to work this web site !!!!
Yours as ever
Jamie

Cllr Jon,
I think it might be a good idea to move the Whaley Hall postings to a new topic all of their own as Horwich End Traffic Lights isn't really appropriate.
Particularly now some photos of the hall have appeared. Can we see some more please?
Fr. Jamie, Nice photo, I am glad to see you have pinned your colours firmly to the mast in preparation for England's victory in the World Cup this summer.

Now, now Old Jacko, you know very well the flag flying high over Whaley Hall is the cross of St. George.
Are you deliberately trying to upset Bob Bowker, Lord Cornflake and Neil A Shaw?

Dear Mr Jackson,
It sounds like you have been glueing too many stamps into your album as you seem to think that my hamster has now grown into a C A T ????????
Please at all costs, stay away from glue and stamp albums!!!!! They might well be the death of you especially if you drive your scotter-thingummy after having licked an entire page-full.
A concerned, Dora Gibson

My Dear Richard,
The Sherry trifle on the 5th June has clearly got my attention however, is there any chance you might supply an old lady with a glass of Vodka, ice with a slice of organic lemon instead of beer (which truly does not agree with me)? If I am able to make it your knees-up, I will promise to bring you my Bejesus, all-encompassing, chocolate cakeroonie with hundreds and thousands on top!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Richard et al,
How is the traffic doing these days at Horwich End as I am away on a jaunt and am totally out of touch with events? If in doubt perhaps road-users, should go the LONG WAY ROUND?

The last couple of evenings traffic has been queuing up Macc road to the Cheshire border again at around 5:30..6:00 pm. This does not seem to be related to the road works - the temporary traffic lights have not been in use - just the regular traffic lights up to their old tricks again. |

I agree; it looks like whoever has reinstated the main lights has not set the same time sequence as previous. Last night it took 20 minutes to get from the Saltersford turn off to the White Horse. Can somebody please sort it???

The timing and filter sequence of the traffic lights at Newtown have changed since the road has been relaid last week. I can only presume that the automatic sensers that are normally buried under the tarmac have been damaged and they will be renewed later. I drove over the Newtown roadworks and noticed that as the tarmac had been removed there were a lot of wires or rubber cables sticking through the surface and thay had obviously been damaged beyond repair.

Anyone know why we still have temporary traffic lights at Horwich End? |

Hi Rockbanker
Mainly because the control box is still in two pieces outside the White Horse. Seem to be waiting on someone to admit responsibility for crashing into it before replacing it. |

It is currently quite dangerous for pedestrians. I have seen a couple of close shaves over the last week with frustrated drivers turning left out of Macc road at high speed narrowly missing people trying to cross. There has been a noticable increase of rat runners on Old Road, and I've even followed a few along Rock Bank when the queue on Chapel Road has been bad. |

Saw an engineers van parked up at the White Horse this morning, so hoping all will be sorted by 18:00 when I come home. Always the optimist. |
