I had no idea Fedup was a girl, think I might slip round later with a bottle of wine and a few Super Lagers see if I cant cheer her up a bit.

This is similar to post #2 of R.S-S's on Coronation day according to the shop banner. Notice the telegraph pole is now larger and full.If you cannot see the photo it is now on post # 54. Sorry.

That is an awful reproduction Norm - No background etc,
There is a far better version on my web space also an improved Barren Clough image.

Good Morning Mr Jackson,

How are you today – I have enhanced your Coronation picture and brought out some interesting detail in the form of enlargements.
On view on my web space.

Thank you for your post, so kind. I am not getting into any slanging match about which photograph is better, that is how Shallcross posted it and I am not going to alter it.

The photo of The Station Hotel / Crossings ( post 16)) in Furness Vale shows a shopfront at one end of the building. Before the War this was Mrs Rathbone's, a sweet shop and tobacconist.  The shop was completely separate from the pub.

Going by the date, I would say that would have been the Omnibus used from 1857 to 1863 to connect Whaley Bridge railway station with Chapel-en-le-Frith and Buxton. This which would have been rendered obsolete when the extension to Buxton was opened by the railway company in June 1863.

The above “Railway Hote”l picture is now on my new website with damage removed also larger to show more detail. The landlords name shows clearly.
Go to the “Work in Progress” page.

Rather surprised Norm that you selected to post this picture on the website as is, there is lots of interesting detail in there which I am sure people would find interesting. There is an enlarged and repaired version on my web space, which I suppose you are reluctant to use, if so perhaps buggyite will help you with it, he appears to have a good understanding of how to go about extracting detail.

Your "repair" is to mainly cut off the damage bits round the edge, any fool can do that so you manage it well.

Then to enlarge it slightly so making the pixels larger, you cannot put anything there is not in the original. It is just a "fudge" to make things look better. Also by removing parts and masking over other bits you are in effect changing details, for any history site that is a big no, no.

As others have said please only post sensible posts in this section. Your constant little comments are childish beyond belief for someone who asked for their ability to post be removed from them.

Good afternoon Shallcross.

Thanks for posting the photo of The Railway.

I am confident with the help of your good self, other forum members and, of course Well Known Norm, we will achieve my goal of having historical photographs of all Whaley's pubs in the Photo album of the Local History site.

Only seven more to go.

By the way, has anyone correctly identified the location of your Royal Oak?

Hello H.E

No one has even had a go yet.

Maybe a clue is required   The building is still there it isn't white anymore and it's for sale at the moment.

The picture ''Horwich End Coronation'' for those who don't know, maybe it should be mentioned the shop on it is The Old Horwich End Post Office.

Your comments on how I enhance pictures truly underlines your compete ignorance of graphic art work.

You are of late notably downgrading the unique images that people have entrusted to your care for uploading to the website,

My dear "Lord"

I cannot help with your query but I whole-heartedly agree with your P.S. !!   Regarding "(My last word on this topic)"   I think we have been down this road before - and what a tiresome one it is  !!

I hope someone comes up with the picture you require because it would be another angle on the pubs of Whaley and the village as a whole.

I look forward to any future postings.
