Now I know we touched on this subject in the old forum, but I am now getting really fed up with the situation, so I'm going to vent my annoyance on all who view this forum.
We all want Whaley shops and businesses to flourish, but how on earth can we support them when it is well nigh impossible to park down in Whaley.
The Car Park is now busier than ever, as people who used to park for hours on Canal Street have got the wind up since the new Parking Attendants have started to patrol the area. This, combined with the influx of "walkers", who park up and disappear into the hills for hours on end, has virtually closed the Car Park to those who just want to park for an hour or so to do some shopping.
Canal Street is now slightly easier to park in, but not much use if you want to do some shopping, go to the Library, visit Footsteps and browse in the new (and rather interesting) charity shop. Surely now is the time to increase parking time in Canal Street to at least 1 hour, rather than the current 30 minutes.
Jodrell Car Park - forget it. Usually full of cars presumably owned by people using the train station.
Spaces on Market Street - not a hope!
Yes, you can park on the main road on the Canal Street side, but there is usually a long, long line of cars parked up there, and by the time you've got to the end of the line, you are nearly in Jake's Corner Shop, so you just give up the ghost and go straight there.
Don't get me wrong - I have nothing against walkers, train users or people who work in Whaley parking up, but I do find it frustrating that much as I would like to use Whaley Bridge facilities more often, because I can't park anywhere, I tend to give up and just go to Tesco. I haven't got the time to spend going round and round looking for a parking space and now I have reached a certain age, I cannot even contemplate walking down into Whaley and then walking home, weighed down with shopping.
Has anyone got an answer or a point of view on this, or am I the only person who finds it all very annoying?
