I was asked on another forum if Whaley Bridge had adopted a ship during the second world war. If I recall correctly there is/was a "Warship Week" certificate on display somewhere in the Mechanics. Can anyone recall the name of the vessel?

Hi,

By some ironic twist, the warships name has a certain resemblance to my favorite bird. I copied down the plaques wording some time ago when I noticed this, but never had the opportunity to use it.

The plaque is upstairs on the wall in the mechanics, and reads:

Presented by
The Lords commissioners of the admiralty to the WBUD. To commemorate the adoption of HMS CAPE COMORIN during warship week February 1942

Cheers

Jon.

Thanks Jon.

For anyone interested, she was an anti-submarine trawler
