I was asked on another forum if Whaley Bridge had adopted a ship during the second world war. If I recall correctly there is/was a "Warship Week" certificate on display somewhere in the Mechanics. Can anyone recall the name of the vessel? |

Hi,
By some ironic twist, the warships name has a certain resemblance to my favorite bird. I copied down the plaques wording some time ago when I noticed this, but never had the opportunity to use it.
The plaque is upstairs on the wall in the mechanics, and reads:
Presented by
The Lords commissioners of the admiralty to the WBUD. To commemorate the adoption of HMS CAPE COMORIN during warship week February 1942
Cheers
