The photograph in post #75 is the correct way round. I do not know about the chimney though.

Albert House was, I think one of the WWI Red Cross Hospitals. There was another where the Newtown traffic lights are.

Correct David here are a couple of images. The Red Cross flags can be seen on both.
The Beaches had 40 beds.

I disagee, Horwich Ender. It is interesting to learn of aspects in the vacinity of Whaley, makes you aware of your surroundings.

Perhaps a wall complete with razor wire encircling Whaley Bridge is the answer, it worked in Berlin.
