Evening all
Before the by-pass when the main road throught Whaley Bridge was the A6 most people will remember how busy it was. On bank holidays at peak times as motorists heading into the Peak District the road was more like a car park at park times. Queues backed up from Horwich End traffic lights into Bridgemont, and later on the return home the traffic backed up from Newtown traffic lights to the middle of Furness Vale. The attached photo shows traffic at a stand still waiting for the lights at Horwich End. It also shows the canal Basin with the railway lines of the Cromford and high Peak Railway leading to the C.P.A. Print Works "fire hole" ( that is if I attach it alright). The area would have been like this in the 1930's which might remind Gnats dad and hopefully prompt any little stories.

"Trent buses would like to apologise for the late arrival of the 1932 bus, that is the bus which left in 1932 not at 19:32."
